Two moments. One life.
Dr Andrew Vale believes two moments in one person’s life can overlap. Competing sensations overwhelm awareness; the present registering twice may explain the feeling of déjà vu.
01 / THE WORLD
A working guide to Vudeja. What the prelude establishes, what its characters believe, and the questions another story might explore.
THE PREMISE
A passing sense that this has happened before becomes something a laboratory can investigate. A journalist comes to ask questions. Then a personal memory gives the experiment a very different meaning.
Vudeja began with an intuition about awareness, time and the physical space we occupy. How that intuition fits the experiment’s explanation is still an open part of the world.

Dr Andrew Vale believes two moments in one person’s life can overlap. Competing sensations overwhelm awareness; the present registering twice may explain the feeling of déjà vu.
The participant remains in the laboratory while experiencing another moment through their earlier self’s senses. The helmet is a research device, not a physical doorway.
Participants cannot ordinarily change what their earlier selves do. Seeing the past again does not give them a reliable way to act differently.
A strong memory gives the researchers a way to try to locate a moment. It is not a promise of arriving at an exact second. Maya’s chosen session tests this new possibility.
Amber rings appear while a connection is active. The researchers can monitor eyes and instrument readings; they cannot watch a video of the participant’s inner experience.
The experiments do not settle the underlying physics, demonstrate travel into the future, or provide a complete model of how histories and memories relate.
Maya’s exceptional session breaks the ordinary pattern: her adult cry reaches the remembered kitchen, and Tom returns. Afterwards, memories conflict and her father is alive.
White markings appear in Maya’s eyes, and in people who were not in the machine. Their cause and reach remain unexplained.
This does not establish a repeatable rescue method, a contagious effect, a countdown, or a settled choice between branching and rewritten histories. An episode that answers one of those questions would be proposing something new.
