# Vudeja — world guide v01

Working creator guide, 8 October 2026. Based on the current prelude and working story. This guide describes fiction. It is not a scientific claim. Full ending spoilers follow the main guide.

## The premise

Déjà vu may be an overlap between moments in one life. Dr Andrew Vale’s research tries to hold that connection open. A reporter, Maya, investigates, then chooses a personal memory to revisit.

The creator’s original intuition also concerns awareness, time and the physical space we occupy. How that intuition fits the experiment’s explanation remains open.

## Established events, reports and theories

1. **Vale’s theory:** two moments in one life may overlap. Competing sensations overwhelm awareness; the present registering twice may explain familiarity. His explanation is a theory, not an omniscient account.
2. **The body stays in the laboratory.** Subjective scenes are experienced through the participant’s earlier senses. There is no demonstrated physical doorway.
3. **Ordinary sessions do not confer control.** Participants cannot ordinarily choose different actions for their earlier selves.
4. **Memory-guided targeting is experimental.** A strong memory can help locate a moment. Arrival at a precise second is not guaranteed. Daniel does not choose the football memory; Maya’s chosen session tests the new advance.
5. **Amber marks an active connection.** Lab monitors show eye feeds and instrument readings, not video of inner experiences. The explanation for the eye effect is unresolved.
6. **Future access is not demonstrated.** Vale’s explanation leaves questions open. Do not treat an untested possibility as an established ability.

## Full prelude spoilers

Maya’s exceptional session breaks the ordinary pattern: her adult cry reaches the remembered kitchen, and Tom returns. Afterwards she and Leah have conflicting recollections, and their father is alive.

White markings appear in Maya’s eyes and in people who were not in the machine. Their cause, reach and mechanism remain unexplained. Amber during ordinary connection and white afterwards are different states.

## Questions for future stories

- What is the physical basis of a connection between moments?
- How do people reconcile conflicting memories?
- Are histories rewritten, branched, merged, or related in another way?
- Why do white markings appear in people outside the experiment?
- Can the exceptional event be repeated?

None of these questions has a settled answer. There is no established contagion rule, touch-transfer mechanism, countdown, guaranteed memory replacement or universal rescue method.

## Creating a scene or episode

Name the world-guide version and character-card versions used. Separate facts from what a character believes. Clearly label any proposed rule, exception, or answer to an open question. Include where the scene sits relative to the prelude and what the characters know at that point.

Keep the emotional purpose of the scene clear: a person, a meaningful moment, and the consequences of experiencing it again.
